Learn About Dr. Tina Calderone, Seminole County School Board, District 5 Candidate

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."—Nelson Mandela

I first joined the Seminole County School Board in November 2010. Since then, I have been thrilled to witness many district education victories including an A-rating despite new tougher standards. Seminole County Public Schools’ SAT scores also improved and exceed the state and national averages. Plus, our graduation rates are at an all-time high as are vocational offerings and industry certifications.

Even before joining the board, I supported the school district through efforts aimed at fostering a love of learning in our children from a young age. Maintaining the belief that children come first, I worked to ensure our top-notch teachers received the support they needed to inspire a love for learning in children from a young age. From forming educational partnerships that give students valuable resources, to early education programs to prepare them for kindergarten through careers, I hope to continue to find creative, cost-effective ways such as these to guarantee the best education for our children.

Educational Background and Achievements

I pull from my advanced experience and educational degrees to find creative new ways to improve our childrens’ and teachers’ access to resources. Continuing to call on my stellar academic record, I aim to make the most informed school district choices as a Seminole County Public School Board Member:

  • Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Central Connecticut State University
  • Masters in Educational Administration, University of Florida
  • Doctorate in Educational Leadership, University of Florida

Along with regular visits to area classrooms and dialogue with parents and teachers, this extensive educational background equips me with the tools I need to make the most informed decisions. I am also a Certified School Board Member, a distinction recognizing dedicated board members who have “actively pursued a formalized training program for developing a high level of boardsmanship skills and knowledge in 12 curricular areas” through the Florida School Boards Association.

"We make living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill

I use my years of leadership experience in both business and community service.  Having served on the boards of many organizations, I continue to support many local causes and community organizations with my time and talent. See some of my leadership and volunteer experiences below.
